Winchester is up for the 'Public Sector Accountancy College of the Year’ for the second year running.
The programme’s success is based on inclusive, industry-focused, and student-centred education.
To support student employability the Accounting and Finance Programme Team embed industry qualifications within courses which can fast track graduates’ careers as they need to take fewer professional exams after university.
The Winchester programme has accreditations and exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
Students also benefit from the expertise and experience of specialist guest lecturers and from field trips to locations such as Coutts and the Bank of England.
This approach is reflected in excellent graduate outcomes – 95% of graduates are in employment or further study 18 months after completion of their programme. Among those employing Winchester graduates are Deloitte, EY, Next, Frasers Group and HMRC.
A 2023 graduate wrote: “My time at Winchester has been nothing short of transformative. When I first joined, I was a shy and awkward person who was just trying to find my place. Throughout the past three years, I have been lucky to be surrounded by fantastic family, friends and lecturers. It has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally to a level I never saw myself reaching.”
Dean of the Faculty of Business Design and Technology, Sarah Moore-Williams, said: “I am delighted that the hard work and innovation of the Accounting and Finance Team has been recognised again in these awards.
“I believe our focus on industry-required competencies, and unwavering dedication to student success make a significant impact on our students, who graduate to become valuable members of the accountancy profession.”
The winners of the PQ Awards will be announced a ceremony to be held at the Salsa Temple London on 28 April.
