Biography

Sam became Assistant Vice-Chancellor in September 2019. Prior to this he was Director of Communications and External Relations at the ¾¢±¬´ó¹Ï.

Sam joined the ¾¢±¬´ó¹Ï in 2015 after a career in the Civil Service and higher education policy. Sam was head of the Ministerial Communications Unit where he led a team responsible for delivering strategic communications for various Cabinet Ministers and Government Departments in collaboration with Number 10.

Within the ¾¢±¬´ó¹Ï, Sam is responsible for areas including Marketing, Communications and Engagement,  Student Support and Success and Widening Participation. 

Sam studied at Monash ¾¢±¬´ó¹Ï in Melbourne, Australia, majoring in Australian Indigenous Studies. He is a governor at a local primary school in Winchester where two of his three children go to school.
